Things to do in London: City of London Festival

Published: Monday 21st of June 2010

Visitors can add a unique blend of music, honey and beehives to their things to do in London list as the capital city gears up for the City of London Festival.

The festival features piano recitals by 21 young artists in the Guildhall Yard. The event will also see Portuguese Chamber Orchestra showcasing a solo performance by Brazilian pianist Cristina Ortiz.

These pianos will then be distributed around the streets of London to give city-dwellers as well as visitors a chance to try their hand at piano playing.

Another side of the events will include honey tastings, poetry readings, music and a talk by the Bishop of London. The festival is part of the International Year of Biodiversity 2010 and will see the installation of numerous beehives across the city.

The festival will also feature its share of dance productions, seeing some of London's attractions such as the Tower of London, Monument and the Royal Exchange being turned into cultural performance venues.
