How ironic that the building built to protect Edward III's rings, pearls and diamonds has now become one of the jewels in London's crown.
Located just a stone's throw from the Thames, near to Victoria Tower Gardens, the Jewel Tower is one of the capital's oldest remaining buildings, having been largely unaltered since its commission in 1365.
Also known as the King’s Privy Wardrobe, the tower is fascinating to look round and offers a real feel for the history associated with it.
What's more, it's right in the middle of a tourist hub, with the Houses Of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben all just a short walk away. Perfect for when it comes to cramming in as many attractions as possible in a short time.
