Save on sightseeing in London as Trafalgar Square named most popular location

Trafalgar Square is the London attraction most people want to visit, according to the results of a new poll.

First Rate Exchange Services found that Tower Bridge is also a popular London attraction with tourists from the US, France, Ireland, Germany and Spain.

However, over half (51 per cent) of Americans questioned said that a visit to Buckingham Palace is a must, topping their list of most desirable locations.

The Irish, on the other hand, are most likely to head for Oxford Street for a spot of shopping when sightseeing in London.

London museums polled in third place with all nationalities, while Windsor Castle ranked in seventh place and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in tenth.

Sharron Livingston, editor at The Travel Magazine, recently suggested that more Brits would be staying at home to holiday this year as they rediscover the top attractions on their doorstep.
