Save on London sightseeing when visiting new London exhibition
Published: Friday 4th of September 2009
Those planning a sightseeing trip to London might want to take advantage of a new event being held at the Tower Bridge Exhibition.
Great Bridges of the World features a range of colour photographs, all on show in the west walkway of top London attraction Tower Bridge.
A total of 22 bridges feature in the exhibition - with 12 being on show at any one time - looking at the engineering achievements behind the structures.
Although Tower Bridge itself features in the photographs, other iconic structures represented at the London attraction include South Africa's Bloukrans Bridge and Japan's six-lane Akashi Kaikyo Bridge.
London Bridge was originally the only crossing over the river Thames, leading authorities to realise that demand made it necessary to build another walkway.
After the design of Horace Jones was decided on, the construction of Tower bridge spanned eight years and involved the expertise of 432 workers.
