Save on London sightseeing as English holidays grow in popularity
Published: Friday 7th of August 2009
Latest statistics show that holidays in England are growing in popularity, which could make this year a great time to see what there is to do in London.
Figures released by VisitEngland from the United Kingdom Tourism Survey reveal holidays taken in England by UK residents in the first quarter of the year increased by 13 per cent compared to the same period last year.
"These early indications that people are rediscovering holidays in England [are] welcome news to the leisure tourism sector," commented James Berresford, chief executive of VisitEngland.
England has its unique features, Mr Berresford added, including cultural urban centres and world-class attractions.
Outbound travel from England is down by 18 per cent, according to the statistics, which may suggest people are heading to London to see its top attractions.
Anyone heading to London can make the most of their visit with the London Pass, which gives free entry to a whole host of great sites.
