Save on London Attractions: Visitor numbers increase at London attractions
Published: Thursday 25th of February 2010
Cathedrals, gardens, zoos and leisure parks, as well as galleries and museums, have proved popular, with Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (Alva) figures suggesting that foreigners are attracted by the weak pound.
Eight in ten of the organisation's members expect to maintain this level in 2010, while more than half believe revenues from UK and London attractions will actually increase.
Commenting on the survey, director of Alva Robin Broke said: "The tourism industry played a vital role in Britain's economy last year, with leading attractions working hard to maintain visitor figures and revenue in a challenging fiscal environment.
"As the political parties prepare for the General Election, they should consider how best to help the industry maximise the revenue it can generate."
Last year, some UK attractions reported record visitor numbers.
Alva figures published in October by Alva show that the Royal Horticultural Society saw an increase of 15 per cent in visitor numbers.
