Old Etonian elected prime minister of Thailand

Published: Saturday 20th of December 2008

One of the world's most prestigious schools Eton College has seen a number of its former pupils go on to high office in British politics, including several prime ministers and the current leader of the opposition David Cameron.

Proof of its worldwide influence has been further underlined with the election of Abhisit Vejjajiva as prime minister of Thailand, who was educated at the famous establishment before attending Oxford University.

British-born Vejjajiva has become the country's third leader in four months, at a time of great political and social upheaval for the south-east Asian country.

Eton College is located to the west of the capital in Windsor and was established in 1440 by King Henry VI.

LondonPass visitors can experience the historic setting for the education of so many important and influential people for free, saving £5.50 for adults and £4.50 for children on the price of admission, plus a free guided tour taking place at 14:15 and 15:15 each day.
