New book captures Windsor Castle 'behind the scenes'

Published: Wednesday 24th of September 2008

Readers now have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at St George's Chapel, after a book was published with exclusive intimate photographs.

St George's Chapel - which is located at Windsor Castle – has played host to numerous royal events and ceremonies; however, the new book, created by photo journalist Eleanor Curtis, shows the chapel in a new light.

"It was an incredible 18 months of photography … I actually stayed overnight there to take photographs at two in the morning in the chapel," she told the BBC.

Ms Curtis added that the building still had "hundreds" of other sides to discover.

As well as photographs of the building, the book also shows how much preparation goes on behind the scenes before royal events.

Steeped in history, the chapel is also the resting place of royals including the Queen Mother, King George VI and Princess Margaret.

As well as exploring St George's Chapel, visitors to Windsor Castle can take a look around the magnificent state apartments and view works of art from the Royal Collection.
