NI star striker revels in Windsor Castle trip

Published: Friday 19th of December 2008

Northern Ireland and Sunderland star David Healy has revealed he felt nervous before collecting his MBE at Windsor Castle earlier this week.

The centre-forward was given the honour after excellent form for his national side which brought them close to qualifying for the 2008 European Championships and saw him bag a hat-trick against eventual tournament winners Spain.

Healy told the Belfast Telegraph: "It was quite an experience being presented with the MBE by the Queen last week. I am a pretty laid back person but I have to admit I was really nervous on the day at Windsor Castle.

"I didn’t realise the amount of instructions to be followed, but thankfully I got through it okay, had a nice chat with the Queen and all in all it was a fantastic day, which my wife and parents also thoroughly enjoyed."

LondonPass holders can explore hundreds of years of history at Windsor Castel for free, saving £14.80 for adults and £8.50 for children.
