London attractions: Have a royal time at Windsor Castle
Published: Friday 29th of June 2012
Windsor is the oldest and largest "occupied" castle in the world and is the official home of her Majesty the Queen, who has been celebrating 60 years in power with the Diamond Jubilee.
There are a number of exhibitions that visitors can enjoy. One is The Queen: 60 Photographs for 60 Years, a rich visual history of her epic reign.
Another amazing show is Treasures from the Queen's Palaces, which is as literal as it gets – a fine collection of things stemming five centuries of collecting, and includes paintings, drawings, miniatures, watercolours, manuscripts, furniture, sculpture, ceramics and jewellery.
Less regal but equally beguiling is the exhibition Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomist, which is the largest ever of the great artist and thinker's studies of the human body.
Windsor Castle is rich in history, which makes the experience of visiting it a memorable one – the halls and rooms bring to life the many colourful characters that have lived in the royal home.
