London 'now cheaper than New York'

Published: Tuesday 10th of March 2009

London is now cheaper than New York for the first time in seven years, new research has found.

It is now the world's 27th most expensive city, the study by the Economist Intelligence Unit states, while New York ranks in 23rd place.

"Overseas visitors are crucial to the capital's economy and I use every opportunity I can to promote London and attract visitors whether at home or abroad," comments mayor of London Boris Johnson.

He adds that there has never been a better time to visit London, with efforts being made to attract "everyone from Seattle to Shanghai" to see what the capital has to offer.

London has plenty of things to do and see, with the London Pass the perfect way to take in the sights of the big city.

It allows visitors to save huge sums of money on key attractions such as Wellington Arch, Eton College and Benjamin Franklin House.
