London's suburbs 'have hidden potential'

Published: Tuesday 17th of March 2009

Plans are underway to unlock the hidden potential of London's suburbs, it has been revealed.

According to a new report from London Councils, the areas are in need of economic, environmental and social investment in order to thrive.

"By creating more vibrant high streets with a wider range of shops and businesses, we can attract more people to spend their time and money in their neighbourhood," comments chairman of the London Councils Suburbs Steering Group Mike Freer.

The councillor adds that the measures will help the community, which may also spell good news for tourists heading to the city.

It is hoped that the areas will benefit from improved open spaces, including parks, which will make the capital a great place for a family day out.

For the time being, visitors to London can take advantage of the London Pass, which gives free entry to a number of the city's top attractions.
