Handel House Museum offers top things to do in London on Sunday

Published: Saturday 20th of February 2010

On the lookout for things to do in London this Sunday? The Handel House Museum may be offering just what you need.

This Sunday (February 21st), the museum is hosting a performance entitled La Querelle des Bouffons, which could be an absolute treat for classical music lovers.

For the show, the Handel House Museum has confirmed that its ensemble-in-residence Spirituoso will be joined by a guest soprano to present "the colourful and enticing battle between French and Italian styles of vocal composition, which in the 18th century produced gems of vocal and instrumental virtuosity".

Works by Andre Campra will be performed at the event to mark the 350th anniversary of the composer's death.

The one-hour show will commence at 15:00 on Sunday and is sure to be one of the most civilised things to do in London as the weekend draws to a close.

Home to the baroque composer George Frideric Handel from 1723 until his death in 1759, the Handel House Museum is the building in which the great composer created landmark works such as Messiah, and Music for the Royal Fireworks.
