Free entry to 55+ London attractions: Kids unaware of location of top attractions
Published: Friday 14th of August 2009
Many children do not know where the country's top sites are located, including some in London, a new survey has discovered.
Despite London attractions being the fifth most popular destination for children this summer, many could not pinpoint them on a map, a poll from Travelodge found.
"By holidaying at home youngsters will certainly find out why Great Britain is a top holiday destination," noted Guy Parsons, Travelodge managing director.
Of those questioned, 49 per cent did not know where Bournemouth was and 25 per cent were unaware of the locality of Devon.
However, children believe holidays on home soil to be important as 88 per cent said it is crucial to grow up with memories of taking breaks in the UK.
Another recent Travelodge survey found that the number of Brits going abroad has fallen from 33 per cent in 2008 to 27 per cent in 2009, with 32 per cent of people planning on taking a staycation and holidaying domestically.
