Free London attractions 'make the city affordable'

Published: Monday 7th of September 2009

People will find they can explore London on the cheap due to its range of free attractions, it has been said.

Ken Kelling, communications director at Visit London, believes that being able to take a look at top London attractions for free counters the idea that it is expensive.

He continued: "The British Museum is one of the most famous museums in the world, as are the V&A [Victoria and Albert Museum], the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. All of those are free."

Mr Kelling noted that anyone who wants to explore the city further can take advantage of paid attractions - which people will be able to save money on with the London Pass.

Among them is the Tower Bridge Exhibition, he said, which gives people an insight into the iconic structure.

Recent figures from Visit London showed the number of people visiting museums, galleries and other attractions in the capital has continued to rise, with an increase of 8.4 per cent in June.
