Fashion advert shot at Eltham Palace

Published: Wednesday 24th of December 2008

One of the UK's most beautiful Art Deco buildings has been used as the backdrop for a new advert by a major Italian fashion house.

Filming for the new Gucci campaign took place at Eltham Palace, reports the Bromley Times. The advert is focussed on Gucci pour homme, the label's popular men's fragrance.

With an exterior inspired by Hampton Court Palace, Eltham Palace was built next to the ruins of Henry VIII's childhood home in South East London and was completed in 1936.

The stunning Art Deco style of the palace is the work of Stephen and Virginia Courtauld, who were leading members of London society during the 1930s.

Susan Martin, visitor operations site supervisor, told the newspaper: "Eltham Palace is such a glamorous place that it seems made for fashionistas - which I suppose was the Courtaulds' intention!"

LondonPass holders can visit Eltham Palace for free, saving £8.00 for adults and £4.00 for children.
