Eton schoolboys to work with Barack Obama

Published: Tuesday 7th of October 2008

Historic Eton College has sent a group of its pupils to work with the US presidential campaign of Democratic candidate Barack Obama, it has emerged.

According to the Observer, the group of boys will be followed by another party from London's Oratory School, where former prime minister Tony Blair's children are educated.

A source at the historic public school in Windsor, Berkshire was keen to stress that the trip was of educational value, rather the school professing an allegiance to either side in the upcoming presidential elections.

'It's less about political leanings than the chance to experience an American election campaign," they said.

Eton College was founded in 1440 by King Henry VI and is on the best-known and well-respected educational establishments in the world, having educated several former Prime Ministers, as well as, more recently, the current Conservative Party leader David Cameron and London mayor Boris Johnson.

Visitors to Eton College can enjoy free entry and a guided tour around its historic buildings upon producing their LondonPass, saving up to £5.50 on the normal price of admission.
