Benjamin Franklin House gives insight into the great American
Published: Saturday 30th of June 2012
This was the English home of the great American politician, who was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America.
He lived here between 1757 and 1775, where the renowned polymath explored all sorts of fascinating ideas, which have helped shape the modern world as we know it.
It was also a time where he was hugely influential in trying to broker healthy relations between Britain and America, which he succeeded for a while.
Then he decided to head back to the US to help the colonies in their bid for independence because this was morally right. Along with his peers, he helped articulate freedom in the Declaration of Independence.
It is much more than just a vestige of his former home – the Benjamin Franklin House is in fact the only remaining residence the intellectual lived in.
It is also the preeminent centre for all studies related to one of the biggest names in American Enlightenment.
