Tate Britain showcases till receipt

Published: Thursday 25th of June 2009

Modern art enthusiasts might want to consider a trip to Tate Britain in the near future, where a rather unusual exhibition is on show.

Monochrome Till Receipt (White) by Ceal Floyer is just what it says - a till receipt from a well-known British supermarket.

It features 49 items which total £70.32, in an exhibition which Tate Britain said is in reference to the purity of modernist monochrome painting.

Other items on display include cotton wool, toothpaste, pickled eggs, swing bin liners and boil-in-the-bag rice, all of which fall under the white theme.

Visitors to the new exhibition can make the most of their trip with the London Pass, which currently has a ten per cent discount up until the end of June.

It allows them to have a free audio guide on their trip around Tate Britain, saving £3.50 per adult and £3 per child.
