Sculptor presents work to the Courtauld Gallery
Published: Friday 5th of December 2008
One of Britain most revered living sculptors has presented a striking work to the Courtauld Gallery in London.
The much-loved and respected attraction will receive a most important piece from Phillip King's early career: Drift, from 1961.
Head of the Courtauld Gallery Ernst Vegelin said: “Since the founding of The Courtauld in 1932, we have relied almost entirely upon gifts and bequests of great generosity to build our extraordinary collection of works of art.
"We are thrilled to receive Drift which will significantly enhance our modern British collections, an area which we are actively seeking to expand as we develop our 20th century holdings in the years ahead."
Visitors to the gallery can see the work on display in Room 14.
LondonPass holders can gain free entry to the Courtauld Gallery in London's beautiful Somerset House, saving £5 for adults, along with further discounts in the shop and Admiralty Deli.
