London gallery gives the Christmas tree a contemporary twist

Published: Thursday 20th of November 2008

As part of its celebration of the festive season, one of London's world-famous galleries is to offer a unique collaboration between contemporary artists and visitors.

Tate Britain's Make Your Own Xmas will see Bob and Roberta Smith work in conjunction with gallery-goers in creating a 'green' Christmas tree from recycled timber, bicycle parts and lamps.

The event will run from December 5th to January 4th and while the details as to exactly how the efforts of both artists and public will work, the event is already generating quite a buzz of publicity.

Tate Britain is one of the foremost art galleries in the world and is renowned for its access to the Tate archive, which includes work by some of the most famous living artists in the world.

LondonPass holders can enjoy free use of the excellent audio guide at Tate Britain, saving adults £3.50 and children £3.
