London galleries are 'world-class'

Published: Thursday 11th of September 2008

London has been described as the "place to be" for painters and art-lovers, with the capital home to some of the world's finest attractions and galleries.

The Telegraph reported earlier this week that renowned New York gallery owner Yvon Lambert is set to open his first London gallery next month.

Mexican artist Carlos Amorales – whose work is also currently on display at the Tate Modern – has prepared a collection to be shown at Lambert's gallery, with the artist opting for a "lost in the city" theme for his paintings and installations.

Lambert's gallery partner Olivier Belot told the Telegraph that the decision to open in the British capital had been "an absolute given", due to the quality of other London galleries and the fine curators living in the city.

Meanwhile, London Pass holders can used their cards to gain entry to numerous London galleries, including the National Portrait Gallery, Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace and the Courtauld Gallery in Somerset House.

London Pass holders can gain entry to dozens of attractions.
