Published: Saturday 9th of June 2012
The world famous art gallery is celebrated for its amazing and extensive collection of art, especially in the area of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings.
Other notable collections include 20th century art, Rubens and the Baroque, Gothic and Medieval and 18th century art.
An upcoming exhibition is Mantegna to Matisse: Master Drawings from the Courtauld Gallery.
"Spanning over 500 years, the exhibition includes rarely seen drawings by Durer, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo as well as masterpieces by Rembrandt, Cezanne, Van Gogh and Matisse," the gallery has stated.
Another show to check out is Portrait of the Artist As … which is a fascinating look at how notable visionaries have presented themselves and others in their work.
One of the highlights of this exhibit is Frank Auerbach’s Lucien Freud, which saw the artist returning favour for having acted as a model for the late painter.
