London attractions: See Don McCullin's work at the Tate Britain

Published: Tuesday 6th of December 2011

A trip to the capital is not complete for art fans without a visit to London attractions such as the Tate Britain.

Those with an interest in war photography are in for a treat, with the BP British Art Displays: Don McCullin exhibition currently on display at the gallery.

Billed as "one of the most important war photographers of the late twentieth century", Don McCullin has spent his career documenting the devastation caused by events of international significance.

This has included conflicts in Vietnam, Lebanon, Cyprus and Biafra, which he portrayed with "clarity and honesty".

The exhibition takes a broad view of the artist's work, ranging from the military occupation of Berlin in 1961 to the urban landscapes of northern England in post-war Britain and homeless people in East London.

According to the McCullin: "Photography isn't looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures."
