London attractions: Hollywood glamour at the National Portrait Gallery
Published: Monday 25th of July 2011
A new exhibition could provide a London sightseeing opportunity for tourists hoping to see a unique collection of photographic portraits of famous stars.
Glamour of the Gods: Hollywood Portraits features photographs from the John Kobal Foundation and will run at the National Portrait Gallery near Trafalgar Square until October 23rd 2011.
The show presents images from the golden age of Hollywood, so expect to see some of the best photos ever taken of actors such as Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, Clark Gable and Joan Crawford.
Shot in the 1920s and 1930s, the portraits reflect a time when movie studios carefully controlled their stars' images in the media and is far cry from the paparazzi photographs we are used to seeing today.
Those with a passion for the natural world, as well as photography, should also visit Kew Gardens this summer for things to do in London, as a major exhibition is being held at the location until September.
