Enjoy some art at the National Gallery for things to do in London.

Published: Friday 7th of September 2012

The National Gallery is one the top attractions in London for art lovers and a new exhibition next month makes it an absolute must on the itinerary of things to do in the capital city.

Showing next month is Seduced by Art: Photography Past and Present, which aims to deliver Old Master paintings in a brand new way.

"Drawing attention to one particular and rich strand of photography’s history – that of the influence and inspiration of historical painting – the exhibition features pictures by the greatest British and French photographers alongside work by an international array of contemporary artists," the gallery states.

In short, the show looks at photography from its early days and, in contrasting it along with old school paintings, examines how they borrowed and incorporated fine art ideas in this new artistic form.

Beyond that exhibition, there is so much more to do and see within the gallery itself, including, for example, over 2,000 paintings from western Europe.

With the likes of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Titian, Holbein, Velázquez, Rembrandt, Turner, Constable, Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso on show, you will not fail to be amazed.
