Critics admire Tate Modern exhibition
Published: Wednesday 18th of February 2009
Fans of constructivism heading for London in the coming weeks may want to stop at the Tate Modern, where an intriguing exhibition is being held.
Works by Liubov Popova and Aleksandr Rodchenko will be on show until May 17th, with admirers of their unique style unlikely to be disappointed.
The striking colours of the pieces are sure to be eye-catching, with the two artists believed to be the inspiration for Russia's experiments with avant garde.
Among the highlights of the exhibition are Rodchenko's Pure Red Colour, Pure Yellow Colour and Pure Blue Colour, which dominate one gallery.
The artists' political influence is hard to ignore, especially with the ninth room of the exhibition being dedicated to their work on Lenin's New Economic Policy, which includes a poster for rubber galoshes.
Holders of the LondonPass get extra benefits when visiting the Tate Modern, including an audio guide which would normally cost £2 per adult and £1 per child.
