Visit the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art for things to do in London

Published: Monday 13th of August 2012

There are plenty of options for art lovers seeking things to do in London, with the capital being packed to the brim with culture, and the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art is one such option.

Currently showing at the museum is In Astratto. The museum explains that this exhibition: "explores fifty years of innovation in Italian abstraction, and presents a comprehensive survey of the myriad approaches to the subject that emerged during the key period from 1930 to 1980."

If this display is not to their taste, visitors can browse the museum's vast permanent collection, which is home to many fantastic works by some of Italy's most important artists.

It is best known for its core of innovative Futurist works, with this style being Italy's most significant contribution to 20th century art.

This came about when Marianetti decided to break from the oppressive burden of having to create art surrounding Italy's cultural heritage, and instead decided to develop an aesthetic based on technology and modern life.
