Things to do in London: Meet the newborns at London Zoo
Published: Monday 15th of April 2013
Over 760 different species are housed at the zoo, including tigers, giraffes and monkeys, to name but a few.
In fact, if you happen to be visiting the zoo this April, you may get a chance to see the new baby Colobus monkey which has just been born.
The two-week old monkey has been named Anvil and at the moment has a completely white coat which will grow even darker with time.
According to zookeepers at the attraction, mum Sophia is completely besotted with her.
Zookeeper Alison Parbles said: "Mum Sophia is very protective over tiny Anvil, who is only about eight inches tall, but she does let aunty Thumbelina have cuddles with her.
"Thumbelina takes great delight in showing Anvil off to the zoo visitors – who can’t help cooing over the cute new arrival!"
Other highlights of the zoo include a tiger territory, penguin enclosure, rainforest life and a ‘Meet the Monkeys’ walk-through, among others.
