Things to do in London: Celebrations take off at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Museum

Published: Thursday 11th of April 2013

Last month was a pretty colourful time for visitors to the  BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Museum, which is arguably the most culturally diverse of London attractions.

It all kicked off with the Hindu festival of Maha-Shivaratri on March 10th, which included celebrations of the deity Shivalinga, and both devotees and visitors had the opportunity to offer bael leaves to the statue of the deity.

Then on March 23rd, the lights went out. Earth hour was in full swing as BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir London, joined millions of supporters across the globe to mark the hour.

Buildings across the world switched off their non-essential lights for one hour at precisely 8.30pm.

So guests who come along to this remarkable attraction get the benefit of attending their events throughout the year and enjoying the spectacular sights that it has to offer.

The museum includes the “Understanding Hinduism” exhibition which tells the reader a little bit about the origins of Hinduism.
