Published: Friday 28th of September 2012

London is a city of many cultures, and those looking to delve deeper into this side of the English capital could opt for a trip to London attractions like the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir.

The Mandir is hosting an exhibition entitled Understanding Hinduism, which "describes the glory and greatness of Hinduism" and how India has contributed to mathematics, astronomy, medicine, education and religion over the years.

Visitors to the Mandir will learn about Hinduism through an engaging exhibition which incorporates stunning visual effects, paints, tableaux and traditional craftwork.

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir emphasises how the broad-mindedness of Hinduism has encouraged a high level of social and scientific advancements in many fields.

The Mandir is commonly known as the Neasden Temple, and is the first traditional Hindu Mandir in Europe.

The materials for the spectacular building were shipped to India, where they were carved into 26,300 pieces by more than 1,500 craftsmen.

They were then reshipped to London and assembled like a giant jigsaw puzzle in less than three years.
