London attractions: Visit Apsley House for things to do in London
Published: Monday 18th of February 2013
Standing proudly at Number One London, Apsley House is widely known to be one of the most magnificent houses in London.
There are plenty of highlights within the house: a gilt Portuguese service awarded to Wellington is on show, as is the breathtaking Waterloo Gallery and Canova's dominating statue of Napoleon.
In addition, it boasts one of the finest art collections in London, featuring paintings by greats such as Velazquez and Rubens. A sparkling collection of silver and porcelain will also be on show.
Wellington retired to the house after his iconic victory over Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815.
After visiting the house why not take a trip to the nearby Wellington Arch, which boasts a stunning view of the capital?
