London attractions: Take a step back through military history with the Royal Artillery Museum
Published: Saturday 9th of March 2013
The museum first opened in the 1800s and is thought to be one of the first and most longstanding military museums to open in Europe.
Over the last few weeks, it has opened a new exhibition to the public, which explores the role of female soldiers serving in the army since the second world war, right up to the present day.
It highlights the importance of women in the army and contains a very special collection of rare artifacts, and photos which give guests an insight into the everyday lives of those women who serve in the army.
The exhibition is open until April 29th from Tuesday to Saturday.
On March 5th, the museum hosted a talk with Alison Baskerville, an award-winning freelance journalist who served with the Royal Air Force in Iraq and shot to fame after capturing photographs of what she saw.
If you’re interested in participating in the other exciting talks and exhibitions held at the museum, they have got many similar events on throughout the year.
