London attractions: Learn about waterways and ice cream at London Canal Museum
Published: Thursday 31st of January 2013
As you would imagine, people can learn about the history of the capital's waterworks at the museum.
During a visit they are able to see inside a narrowboat cabin and learn about the people who lived and worked on the canals and the horses that pulled their boats.
However, the learning does not stop there. The museum is housed in a former ice warehouse built in around 1862-3 by Carlo Gatti, the famous ice cream maker, and visitors are able to peer down a huge Victorian ice well that was used to store ice imported from Norway.
Those interested in this side of the building's history can also learn about the history of the ice trade and ice cream.
People who are fascinated by the English capital's network of canals can also opt for a Jason's Original Canal Boat Trip, which takes those on board along Regents Canal.
