London attractions: Learn about a young, charming Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace

Published: Tuesday 28th of August 2012

People looking for things to do in London could take a trip back in time and explore Henry VIII's residence at Hampton Court Palace.

The world-renowned palace invites you to come and explore some of its hidden secrets and find out what Henry was like when he was a handsome new prince.

At the Young Henry VIII exhibition, visitors can learn about the man behind the caricature of the tyrannical monarch.

As a youngster, Henry was "handsome, educated and eligible", but after a hunting accident he could no longer partake in sports and became the larger than life tyrant that is taught in history lessons today.

Historic paintings from the royal collection, along with interactive displays and audio-visual elements, will help people to discover a very different King Henry.

Guests perusing the exhibition will also learn about other characters from the life of the young king, including his first wife Katherine of Aragon and his chief minister and trusted ally Thomas Wolsey.
