London attractions: How to entertain kids this summer - Kids Week London

Published: Wednesday 24th of July 2013

If you are busy trying to entertain the kids this summer and are on the lookout for things to do in London, then there are a range of activities to get your teeth into.

The city has got everything from toy museums, to cartoons and arcades - everything that most kids love.

And at the heart of it all is entertainment. We have highlighted three fantastic attractions which not only help to keep the kids occupied, but also help to bring out the 'inner child' in you.

The start of August is a very special time for the little ones as it marks the beginning of Kids Week London, in which a number of activities will be happening across the city for families to get involved in.

Many theatres across the city are inviting children and their families to watch free shows throughout August, in celebration of youngsters.

But while you're in London, why not check out some of these other top attractions which we've listed below, that kids will love.

Cartoon Museum

And what better place to start out than the Cartoon Museum? Here you can bring your favourite cartoon characters to life, which takes you on a nostalgic step back in time, to the dawn of cartoons.

After all, there can hardly be anything more fun on TV than an animated show, and at this museum you get to indulge in all of your childhood fantasies.

Contained in the museum is a collection of just about every type of cartoon you can think of including caricatures and rare examples of cartoon art.

It goes without saying that this is also a great place for the kids, who will be given the opportunity to take part in some of the animation workshops that are held in the museum, and learn about the process behind some of their favourite cartoons.

Namco Funscape

Or what about the Namco Funscape? Namco is the perfect place to party, and is one of the few places in the city where you can try your hand at bowling, games, and pool, all under the same roof.

If you are feeling particularly brave and fancy yourself as the next best thing to Beyonce or Taylor Swift, then you can also have a go at karaoke.

But it doesn't stop there. For this particularly special attraction also includes downhill skiing, skating and cyber skating.

Pollock's Toy Museum

Last, but certainly not least, we would recommend Pollock's Toy Museum. Most kids have a special love for toys, and Pollock's is a great place to educate them about the history behind many of their favourite dolls, games and trinkets.

The museum is a great spot for a family day out where visitors can browse their way through various puppets, stages and theatres. It consists of six different levels, with exhibitions that examine a different type of toy, whether that be dolls'  houses, theatre, or construction toys.
