London attractions: Hang out with the stars in the city's most famous film venues
Published: Monday 6th of May 2013
What better way to conclude an exciting trip visiting the best of London attractions than to watch a movie in the backdrop of some of the city's most awe-inspiring locations?
Take the Curzon Soho for example. This theatre contains an exciting mix of both celebrity and talent, and is often host to film festivals, industry awards evenings, and film previews.
Visitors get a chance to enjoy their favourite movies in lavish surroundings and surrounded by the famous film stars that this venue tends to attract.
Located in the heart of Soho, this vibrant cinema is renowned for presenting the very best of art-house and world films, festivals and premier screenings.
It is one of the most popular cinemas in the city and showcases three screens.
Some of the shows coming up include The Great Gatsby in 2D and 3D, a film known all over the Western world.
Guests should also see Beware of Mr Baker - another show on at the Curzon and a comedy which is sure to fascinate and entertain viewers.
These are just some of the shows coming up at the Soho, and if you are a lover of film or art, then the Curzon is a must-see.
Another great place to go and see a movie is the Renoir cinema. This is another venue which blends film with art, and offers a welcome escape from the hustle-and-bustle of the city.
Over the years, it has coined a reputation as being one of the very best foreign-language cinemas in the country and since its inception, it has sought to reach out to some of the city's local student population.
This has helped to create a relaxed atmosphere within the cinema, which is popular with both students and tourists alike.
Originally named the Bloomsbury Cinema, it has undergone numerous refurbishments since the early 70s and has since been renamed the Renoir cinema.
One of the films currently showing is White Elephant, about the end of the drug war in Buenos Aires. Other film showings are In the Fog and I'm so Excited; films which have been acclaimed worldwide.
But why watch a film when you can visit the movie set and see the action in real life? If you fancy a bit of an adventure, what could be better than walking in the footsteps of Harry Potter or paying a visit to Doctor Who?
Whatever your favourite movie may be, there is almost certainly a tour to suit. Highlights of the Brit Movie attraction includes celebrity tours where you can take an exclusive look behind-the-scenes of TV show The Bill, under the guidance of a former cast member. Or perhaps you'd rather explore the weird and wonderful world of the Beatles, alongside the man who styled the haircuts of the band members.
The best part of it all is that you get to make your very own movie. That's right: the Brit Movie Tour also includes a filmmaking course at Pinewood studios where you can participate in a four-hour interactive exercise where you will be taught acting lessons, lighting skills and directing.
Here, you will be given an exclusive opportunity to discover the acting techniques used by some of the world's most famous actors.
