London attractions: Florence Nightingale Museum honours medical history
Published: Thursday 28th of February 2013
If you want to learn about the fascinating life of one of the most influential women in history, then the Florence Nightingale Museum should certainly be on your list of top things to do in London.
Here you can learn about her childhood, her early career, and her experiences of the Crimean war.
Its exhibits and events take the visitor on a trip back in time to discover how this extraordinary woman helped to heal soldiers in the British army and to transform the public perception of female nurses.
The museum often hosts performances and activities from different groups in London, making it a good centre for entertainment as well as educating visitors about British medical history.
Upcoming events include a storytelling session on March 7th which will feature a spooky reading of The Old Nurse’s Story, written by Elizabeth Gaskell, a close friend of the Nightingales.
The museum is also set to feature talks on the history of the infirmary over the next couple of months.
