London attractions: Explore a world of 1930s decadence at Eltham Palace

Published: Saturday 3rd of November 2012

Anyone who has ever visited London will be struck by the overwhelming sense of history that pervades the city, and those who want to find out more about its past would do well to visit London attractions like Eltham Palace.

This is a particularly interesting building, as it has two different sets of history - medieval and early twentieth century.

History buffs will get chills from wondering around the historical site, which has been linked to a prolific line of royals right back to its construction in the 1300s - it was even once home to a young Henry VIII.

However, in the 1930s, the stunning residence was purchased by the wealthy Courtauld family, who turned it into a shining example of the Art Deco style of the time. To this day, it still conveys the decadence and luxury of the 1930s.

Visitors can take a Twilight tour on November Sunday evenings, which delves into the fascinating history behind the beautiful Art Deco interiors.
