London attractions: Discover the story behind the Queen’s transport at the Royal Mews
Published: Wednesday 3rd of April 2013
The Mews has been described as one of the finest working stables in the UK, and is home to a collection of historic coaches and carriages.
Not only will you get a chance to discover more about the history of the Mews, you will also get a chance to see some of the Queen's horses, including the famous Windsor Greys which were kept at Windsor during the reign of Queen Victoria and drew the private carriages of the royal family.
Visitors can go on free 45-minute guided tours of the Mews, from April until October every year. Visit the Mews and learn more about the staff who are responsible for escorting the Queen across the UK and managing her travel arrangements.
Audio tours of the Mews are also available and you can also get a chance to view the Glass Coach, used by royal brides, as well as the Australian State Coach.
You can also get a chance to check out some of the fine uniforms worn by the coachmen.
