London attractions: Clamber up the steps to the great Monument

Published: Friday 1st of March 2013

The beautiful stone sculptures and fantastic metal crafts alone help to make the Monument one of the most iconic of London attractions.

This attraction is well worth a visit if you want to visit the site of the Great Fire of London in 1666 and gain fantastic views of the city.

If you are brave enough and fit enough to clamber up the 311 steps to the top of the monument, then not only do you get awarded with a certificate to mark your achievement, but you will literally be standing almost 200 feet above ground level.

So if you want to experience the exhilarating feeling of standing on top of London in the heart of the city, then it doesn’t get much better than this.

The last couple of years has seen a lot of changes to this historic structure, which underwent a £4.5 million project a few years ago.
