London attractions: Celebrate the new beginnings of spring at the London Wetlands Centre

Published: Monday 18th of February 2013

Britain appears to be finally emerging from its winter hibernation, and people looking for things to do in London might want to celebrate the good weather with a trip to London Wetlands Centre.

Visitors to the centre are likely to encounter a whole host of wildfowl and wetland wildlife at the centre, which is thought to be the best urban centre in Europe at which people can immerse themselves in nature.

The centre has recently constructed a new viewing hide, which is a fantastic way for people to get up close to nature and catch some rare glimpses of animals in their natural habitats.

According to the centre, the hide boasts "amazing views" of the main lake, reedbeds, tern rafts and shallow pools, allowing you to see lots of different birds close up.

It features large windows with panoramic views, telescopes and binoculars with information on how to use them and visitors can also utilise a CCTV camera and large colour screen to catch glimpses of the antics of birds up close.
