If you are an art lover who is hoping to see some of the most famous collections in the world then there are plenty of exciting London attractions which will allow you to do just that.
Whether you have a passion for Picasso's paintings, Medardo’s sculptures or you have a penchant for photography and surrealism, there is no shortage of art galleries to get your teeth into.
Many of the most renowned art collections in the world are housed in these galleries, which also take the visitor on a fascinating journey behind the history of the exhibitions.
London has always been known as a cultural hub with a diverse and rich heritage, and quite a few of the unique exhibitions that you find here cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
So if you are an art fan, why not start off with a visit to the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art and finish up with a stop at the National Gallery in London?
In fact, there are so many exciting art attractions to choose from that we’ve listed our favourites below.
Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art
No art lover should pass up the opportunity to stop by this unique attraction. It the only art gallery in the country to highlight the importance of modern Italian art to European culture.
The collections are housed in a Grade II listed building, which contains six galleries as well as a bookshop and library.
Here, visitors can see Futurist works from all over the world, including those of Marino Marini, Umberto Boccioni and Gino Severini, who were the most famous artists of the time.
But if sculpture is more your kind of thing, then you can also see works by artists such as Medardo Rosso, who is thought to be one of the most influential sculptures in his lifetime.
Regular talks and events are hosted at the gallery, which include education evenings, art days, talks and exhibitions.
It also allows guests to hire galleries both during the day and during the evening for events and shows.
National Portrait Gallery
Located in the heart of London, the National Portrait Gallery is home to both old and new collections and art forms across the globe.
Visitors can see everything from Native American Indian paintings, to images of the Duchess of Cornwall, within the walls of this famous gallery.
In addition, it features the lives, history and images of those who have influenced British history and culture from the Middle Ages until the present day.
Most of the works are photo exhibitions and portraits of political figures and celebrities, but you’ll also find sculptures from European artists.
Not to be confused with the National Portrait Gallery, the National Gallery features inspiring art by legends such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Monet and Picasso among many others.
Over 2,000 Western European paintings are on display at this gallery, with audio tours and guides available in 12 different languages.
On March 14, they have a special exhibition which delves into the lives of children living in the 1700s until the early 19th century.
