London attractions: St Paul's Cathedral hosts memorial for cricketer

Published: Saturday 2nd of March 2013

If you have an interest in architecture and are on the hunt for great things to do in London, then look no further than St Paul’s Cathedral.

St Paul’s Cathedral is a beautifully constructing building and has hit the headlines recently after a model of it was constructed entirely from fairtrade wrappers.

The model was made by Amanda Hughes, a children’s church co-ordinator at St Mary’s, Finchley with a helping hand from the Diocese of London Fairtrade Group.

The Cathedral also held a memorial for deceased cricket journalist and former president of Marylebone Cricket Club, Christopher Martin-Jenkins MBE.

The memorial was held on February 26th and included music as well as speeches and tributes from his nearest and dearest.

But by far, one of the most important highlights of the Cathedral is the remarkable Whispering Gallery, which stands 30 metres above the cathedral floor and is famous for its acoustics.

It is also home to the Golden Gallery which offers breathtaking views of central London.
