Learn about the Queen’s transport at the Royal Mews for things to do in London
Published: Friday 28th of December 2012
Between April and October visitors can follow a warden around the Mews and hear how the site serves Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her family as they go around their official duties and enjoy ceremonial occasions.
The coaches, horses and cars kept in the Mews have taken the Royal family to prestigious occasions from royal weddings to the State Opening of Parliament.
As well as providing transport for the members of the Royal Family, the Mews is also described as “one of the finest working stables still in existence”.
They are responsible for the training of the Windsor Greys and Cleveland Bays, which are the horses that pull the royal carriages.
