How to beat the London crowds this summer
Published: Thursday 27th of June 2013
Summertime is an exciting time of the year for many people and if you are one of the many tourists who flock to the UK when on the hunt for things to do in London, then you are definitely not going to be disappointed.
The only trouble with summertime is that there will literally be millions of people across the world who will have the same idea.
London has always had a reputation as being a tourist hotspot and as a consequence, it has a tendency to get very crowded in parts of the city in the warmer months.
So if you want to avoid the crowds this summer, why not visit some of the alternative attractions and tours in the city which are not as likely to be as crowded?
We've picked some of the three top attractions which are a fantastic alternative to some of the busier hotspots out there.
Rock n Roll Walking Tours
And who doesn't like a bit of rock n roll? This is probably one of the coolest sightseeing tours of them all, because here visitors will get a chance to follow the footsteps of some of the country's most iconic rock stars, led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides.
The tour pays homage to some of the superstars who helped to transform Britain's rock scene, including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and the Sex Pistols, to name but a few.
Each tour lasts for around 90 minutes and leaves daily from the Original London Visitor Centre.
Another way to beat the crowds when visiting the UK is simply to venture underground. And what better way to do this than by visiting Chislehurst Caves?
Here guests can visit the chalk mines that were mined by hand for over 8,000 years. Guided tours tell the fascinating stories of the Saxon, Roman and Druid influences on the caves and each tour lasts between 40 and 50 minutes.
Chelsea Physic Garden
If you fancy taking a beautiful, leisurely stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the city on a sunny afternoon, then why not drop by Chelsea Physic Gardens?
This walled garden was created in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries and has since gained a reputation as being one of the most stunning areas of natural beauty in the city.
Not only do guests get a chance to see a variety of flower and garden displays but there is also the opportunity to learn about the botany and science behind some of the displays that lie within them.
The attraction also includes a cafe and a bookshop, where you can buy gifts and souvenirs for your loved ones.
