Published: Sunday 30th of December 2012

People looking for things to do in London with their young family should consider a trip to HMS Belfast, which is bound to delight any children and be of interest to history-loving adults.

Visitors are invited to explore the HMS Belfast’s nine decks and uncover stories of life on board the famous warship during the Second World War and beyond.

Why not take a trip to the Engine Room to see how the ship works before ascending to the Operations Room and Compass Platform, which was described as the nerve centre where the captain controlled the ship at sea.

To find out what life was like on board, visitors can partake in the Gun Turret Experience: A Sailor’s Story, 1943.

This attraction takes visitors back in time to the Battle of North Cape on Boxing Day of the year when the German battle cruiser Scharnhorst was sunk by Royal Navy Warships, with HMS Belfast among them.
