Enjoy a family day out in London
Published: Monday 25th of February 2013
There are plenty of things to do in London for people of all ages, and kids in particular are spoilt for choice while visiting the capital. With this in mind, why not treat your family to an action-packed day out in the big city.
Queens Ice and Bowl
Queens Ice and Bowl provides a fun-filled day out in the capital, with plenty of activities on offer.
The centre’s state-of-the-art ice rink features stunning colour change lighting, special effect light shows and climate control for a unique and comfortable skating experience. In fact, it claims to be the “best real ice pad for ice skating in London”.
To prove its credentials, Queens Ice and Bowl is often used by famous people who head there for a fun day out with their families.
Once you’re finished with the ice skating, why not try your hand at a bit of bowling? Queens features 12 lanes of full-size ten pin bowling, as well as cutting-edge scoring and extreme lighting for a bowling experience with a difference.
People who have never bowled before need not worry as there are plenty of lane hosts on hand to explain the basics and kick off your bowling experience. Ramps and light balls are available for kids too. You can also indulge in a bit of food while bowling, with an easy to eat menu featuring tasty snacks like pizza.
Wannabe popstars are also well-catered to at Queens, with its karaoke section featuring more than 5,000 songs and state-of-the-art karaoke technology. Private karaoke rooms hold between 12 and 20 people and feature touch screen song selection, plasma screens, playlist, pitch and speed functions. Comfy seating and delicious refreshments are also on offer.
Celebs including Madonna, Guy Richie, Uma Thurman and Gareth Gates have all been spotted singing their hearts out at Queens in the past, so you never know when you might run into a star.
Namco Funscape provides another perfect rainy day activity, with a number of fun activities all under one roof.
It is one of the biggest amusement arcades in London, meaning that video game-loving children will be absolutely delighted. However, it is much more than a standard amusement arcade, with downhill skiing, skateboarding or cyber cycles all also available. There are also more interactive games like techno bowling, or just some old fashioned pool.
London Brass Rubbing Centre
London Brass Rubbing Centre is an unusual attraction that kids will love. It is also a fantastic way to learn a little more about English history.
Helpful staff are on hand to help instruct attendees in the use of specialist materials which will help get the best results. What’s more, people can take their brass rubbings home with them as a memory of the trip or as a gift for friends and family.
Brasses on offer include medieval knights in armour, glamorous ladies, William Shakespeare and St George and the Dragon.
