The classical music season is well and truly underway with the last few nights of the Proms, featuring some of the best known stars in the industry.
Taking place at the Royal Albert Hall, the Proms, more formally known as the BBC Proms, or the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts presented by the BBC, is nearing the end of its eight-week celebration of orchestral classical music.
If you are a fan of the great Tchaikovsky, then tonight's Prom 72 will feature Verdi/ Tchaikovsky. During the event, Xian Zhang will be directing the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi.
Or perhaps you'd rather the Late-night Schubert, featuring pianists Imogen Cooper and Paul Lewis, who will be performing for the Late Night Prom of the festival.
But it doesn't end there. On Friday September 6th, Lorin Maazel will be conducting the Vienna Philharmonic in Bruckner's Eighth Symphony.
And then later in the evening, the Proms Plus Late will be taking place, which is an informal post-prom event featuring great music and poetry.
But the grand finale of the Proms will actually take place on Saturday September 7th. On this night, Marin Alsop will make history as she becomes the first female conductor of the Last Night of the Proms.
Before that however, tourists will get the chance to join the party in Hyde Park, for the Proms in the Park event, featuring special guest Bryan Ferry and hosted by Sir Terry Wogan.
This very unique open air concert will include a whole raft of musical superstars, including including Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Craig Charles and the Fantasy Funk Band.
The Proms is one of those events that really help to highlight the unique culture and tradition of the UK, where visitors get a taste of the culture, music and fanfare that puts the 'Great' in Great Britain.
Even the venue itself has a very special significance in the rich heritage of the UK. Built in 1871, the Royal Albert Hall is one of London's most prestigious historic buildings and has played host to over 150,000 performances during its lifetime.
In the absence of major events such as the Proms, visitors can take a one-hour tour of the building and get an in-depth view of its architecture, history and the work of this registered charity.
