Benjamin Franklin House: Visit the last remaining Franklin home for things to do in London
Published: Sunday 30th of December 2012
As well as being a founding father of the USA, Benjamin Franklin was a scientist, philosopher, inventor and diplomat, and this is the only remaining Franklin home in the world.
The delightful historical experience presents Franklin’s exciting London life using the lodgings he once lived in as a stage for a drama.
Visitors will be entertained by the main character – Polly Hewson, daughter of Franklin’s landlady who became a ‘second daughter’ to him.
She explains that they are there to see Franklin on his last night in London, when he either had to leave the city or risk being arrested, and through her story visitors get a sense of the man and the complex times in which he lived.
